I have done a lot of calculators for engineers by referring to many books. Now, I want to share it with as many as students as possible. I want to protect the contents so that the students should only be able to see the results but not modify the formulas. I know documents can be password protected. Can documents can be made read only? If yes, will the student be still able to enter data into relevant variables and get result? If yes, please share your thoughts on setting a read only, yet, able to enter values MSExcel document. Your quick response is greatly appreciated

You can format your cells individually to read only.

1. First select the cells you want to make read only.

2. Right click on the selection.

3. Select Format cells.

4. Under Protection tab select Locked.

5. Then go file.

6. Under Permissions, select an encryption method,

7. You can go for encrypt with password.

8. Then only your “locked” function works and the cells would be read only.

9. The default Protection settings for all cells are locked, so change the cell which require editing.
