How do I backup file associations that are customized?  I would like to backup and restore my customization in default file locations.  Is there an option for this in my OS or do I need a third party application?  I have Windows 7 64 bit.  Thank you.

Hello, Nicholas!

I can help you with this. First, go to the Backup and Restore option from your PC. Here you can see the "manage option" and "change setting".

You can change the backup location and whatsoever you want. It's very easy and I trust you can do it. If still there is a problem, just come knocking. Thanks!

Hi Lenore

Cheers

Thanx for sharing your problem here.Yes you can change your customized file association by using your installed OS.So here are the directions how to do it.

1. Firstly type "regedit" in the run.Click start and look for "Run".

2. Then go to these locations. HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerFileExts.

3. From there, you can easily backup file and restore the default location of your customized files.Options  are fully explained there, change what you need and submit. All changes should be made in "FileExt".

Hope this will work.

Thanx
