I have bought a new internal hard disk and I want to put all my music, movie, and pictures to the new hard disk.
I know I can just move the files but I want to be sure nothing is lost in iTunes library.
How to relocate my iTunes library?
Okay,
For us to start we need to locate where your iTunes library is located. Below is a list of locations on where to find the iTunes folder.
-
Mac OS X: /Users/username/Music/iTunes
-
Windows XP: C:Documents and Settings/username/My Documents Music/iTunes
-
Windows Vista: C:Users/username/Music/iTunes
-
Windows 7: C:Users/username/My Music/iTunes
Once located try to copy the entire folder and then copy it to your new hard drive. Note that copying files might take several minutes depending on the size of the file being copied.
Â
After copying iTunes folder to your selected destination, then you need to set up your iTunes program to locate these files and set it as the main folder where iTunes will save all your downloads.
Â
Once your done, then you can decide whether you will erase the duplicate copy of iTunes on the original path or not.
