Hello,

How can I relocate information to my new Pentium IV computer from my old PC? I am thinking about removing the Maxtor 51536u3 and fixing it in the new PC, which uses a sustek p4p800se. Can I go ahead or is there an alternative?

Thanks a lot.

Hi Jaycelin!

You can't connect your Maxtor hard disk drive to your new PC because of incompatibility. Your old HDD needs an IDE port for it to connect to the motherboard and work. Your new PC has a SATA port and does not support IDE hard disk drives.

What you can do is use a flash drive to back up your files, part by part, from the old PC and save them in your new PC.

Hi there,

Maxtor 51536u3 is an IDE hard disk and in requires parallel connection with the Motherboard. In asustek p4p800se you will get three parallel connections. So you can use the hard disk directly with that motherboard.

I think you are using this hard disk for a long time as you are trying to connect it in your pc. I think it would be better if your try to use a new hard disk instead of the old one.

Thank you,

Riley Weaver.
