If you have forgotten your administrator password in Windows 7, you can use Ophcrack password recovery tool. It is able to recover passwords from Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8. Unfortunately, if your password is greater than 14 characters, recovering it is not possible. To get started, visit Ophcrack LiveCD and then click on “Download ophcrack LiveCD”.

On the next page, select either XP or Vista/7. If you are using Windows 8, select Vista/7. Once the ISO file is downloaded, burn it on a blank CD or DVD disc. After that, restart your computer and then boot your machine using the CD. Downloading the ISO file may take some time. The Vista/7 LiveCD is around 649 MB while the XP LiveCD is around 425 MB.

After booting your computer using the CD or DVD, Linux will then load and will then begin the password recovery.
