Hi Experts,

I recently migrated from a generic IMAP to Exchange 2010 Server.

The users will use Thunderbird as their default email client.

The set up should be, Thunderbird users will use Exchange 2010 Global Address List.

Now, I want to know what LDAP queries to be used against Exchange 2010 GAL?

Hello Jabez,

First off, you will need to check how  thunderbird is connecting to the Exchange server.

Check whether it is using IMAP or POP. Note that thunderbird does not know anything about Active Directory.

You will therefore need to ensure that you do the following:

  • Change the login name in the "account settings">"Server Settings".
  • In case a user is using LDAP for address book lookups, you will have to ensure that you also change the name in the LDAP configuration inside the address book.

Another workaround will be to try removing the password from the list of Managed Passwords in Thunderbird using the following procedure:

  • Go to Tools and then Options, and  then Advanced.
  • After that choose Passwords and then choose Security  Manage Stored Passwords
  • Choose the old account, and then remove it.

Regards,

Carl
