Dear All

I am a Mac user/ Using OS X Lion (10.7). My friend wants to give me some Excel file that should be opened in XCode. Can someone tell me how to put excel in xcode ?

Hi there,

First of all, I would like to know, which version of Excel are you using? Is it version 2008 or 2011? If you are using 2008 you may download Solver for Excel 2008.

 But rather than doing this, I would recommend you to upgrade your Excel version from 2008 to 2011 and then use Excel 2011 solver for MAC. If you would update the system, then there will be no need to download the solver separately.

  • All you need to do is to check if you have all the latest updates of Excel 2011( HELP -> check for updates ).
  • To enable solver follow as ( Tool > Addin box > Addins > check ‘Solver.xlam’ > OK ).
  • To use solver follow as ( Start excel 2011 > open your workbook > go on data tab > click Solve button )
  • However, be cautious that when Solver is working to never edit the workbook manually. This will give unpredictable results.
