I have a laptop Dell Dimension 5150 with windows XP OS. I don't want to use XP any more. So I have installed Ubuntu 14.04. Everything looks fine with Ubuntu 14.04 except printing. My printer is HP PhotosmartC7280. First, I am able to print one test page. Afterwards, I am unable to print any pages. I have given some other printer names as default printer, But nothing worked. I am completely new to Linux. Can somebody please give me any steps how to print pages in Ubuntu?
Thanks in advance for your help.
How to print in Dell Dimension 5150 with Ubuntu 14.04
Follow these steps
(a) Run this command in terminal to find whether HP Linux Imaging and Printing support is installed in your system or not
dpkg -l hplip
(b) This give you an output something like this
If it is says ii in the index you have HPLIP installed and against it you can also find version number. the latest is 3.14.10.
(c) If it is not there or is an older version , then download the installer from here.
(d) Follow the steps listed here.
Your printer should function fine after you have finished your installation with the latest files.
