I don’t want my PC to get infected by viruses, so I was wondering if I can prevent access to USB flash port? Any kind help would be appreciated.

Hi,

Just do the following to disable the access to USB port in Windows 7:

1. Click Start and then Run

2. Type 'regedit' and click OK

3. Navigate to the registry key below:

    HKEY_LOCAL_HACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\UsbStor

4. Double click Start in the right pane

5. In the value data box, type 4 which was 3

6. Just click OK

I see your concern is about viruses. Autorun feature in the computer enables the opening of virus infected files when USB is inserted. Just disable Autoplay through this step:

1.

Type Windows Key+ R and type Gpedit.msc

2.      Click Computer Configuration> Administrative templates> Windows Components> Autoplay Policies

3.

At the Details prompt ,double-click “Turn off Autoplay”

4.

Select the “Enabled” radio button, select “All drives” in the Turn off Autoplay box .This does what you wanted.
