In Outlook 2003 from the top menu, Choose Go then Folder List, then click on Data File Management. In Outlook Data Files, click on Settings, then Change Password; in Old Password leave this blank if this is the first time that you are putting in a password and then type the New Password.

Next time that you open up your Outlook, it will prompt you to type in your password.

In Outlook 2007 and 2010, the procedure is quite similar to that in Outlook 2003 procedure.
From the top menu, choose Go then Folder List, then click on Data File Management. In Outlook Data Files, click on Settings, then Change Password; in Old Password leave this blank if this is the first time that you are putting in a password and then type the New Password.

Next time that you open up your Outlook, it will prompt you to type in your password.

All done! Simple enough isn’t it, to secure all your Emails, Contacts, Calendar, Notepads, etc… from within your Microsoft Outlook?

There are different ways of creating a .pst file with Microsoft Office Outlook.

Here is one where you create the .pst file while Microsoft Office Outlook is up and running.

  1. Click File then New and then select Outlook Data File.
  2. In the Types of storage area, click Office Outlook Personal Folders File (.pst).
  3. Click Outlook 97-2002 Personal Folders File (.pst) to create a new Outlook .pst file that is compatible with earlier versions of Outlook and then hit OK.
  4. Select a folder where you want it save then enter its file name under File name box and then click OK.
  5. In the Name box, enter the title for the .pst file and then click OK. After this, click Close twice.

The new .pst file appears in the Data File area. When you create a .pst file, you can add a password of up to 15 characters.

If you click to select the Save this password in your password list check box, note the password in case you must open the .pst file on another computer.
