I am trying to get Netflix to work on my new Visio television with built in WiFi. I am wondering if data port 80 and 443 can be opened on my router, to allow Netflix to work.

Ports can be opened by accessing the router page.

Since you will be accessing the Television's website through the router, I would suggest that you trigger the ports. Do not forward them.

I understand that you have to trigger the ports, instead of forwarding them since I will be accessing the TV's website.

Well that makes sense. I will do it now and will come back to forums if this does not work.

I went to try triggering the ports but it did not work well for me. Any other suggestions?

Try doing DMZ or the Demilitarized zone. But doing this would require you to set your TV to a fixed IP, so that the port requests will be forwarded to it.

If all fail, consider upgrading the firmware of your router.

By the way, what is the error message on Netflix? The device is probably needing something other than simply opening the ports.

I still have to check with Netflix.
