How to lock a Portable Hard Disc
There are several softwares available to lock portable hard drives but the one I would suggest is a free open- source TrueCrypt. It is a cross-platform encryption tool to lock Folders and Volumes. It is automatic, real- time and transparent and provides plausible deniability.
It can be used on Win 7/ Vista/ XP/ Mac OS X and Linux.
Encrypt an entire external hard drive > Move off files from Drive > Format with TrueCrypt > Create encrypted Volume > Copy files to that Volume.
Truecrypt features more encryption schemes than Disk Utility.
