Hello Hudson Davila,

Well, setting up a virtual cd on your personal computer is actually pretty easy and simple. I suggest you use SlySoft Virtual Clone Drive because it is so small in size, and so easy to use. Next, you must have a disc image writer. I suggest you use Magic ISO. Well, a disc image writer is actually optional if you already have image files to mount,or you are just planning to directly download iso files from the internet. I recommend you also use it in order for you to backup your own files. Anyway, setting it up is easy, but first, you have to download these files. Here are the links:

SlySoft Virtual Clone Drive:

http://www.slysoft.com/en/download.html (Choose "Virtual Clone Drive")

MagicISO:

http://www.magiciso.com/download.htm

Download and install these two softwares. Installing it should be easy. Just simply follow the procedures.

To create ISO files, or disc image files using MagicISO, refer to this link. It will give you detailed instructions on how to create a disc image. It is accompanied with pictures so it should be easy.

If you have already the disc image, then set your virtual drives first.

On the lower right of your screen, in the taskbar, right click on the sheep icon. Set the number of drives. Once you have set the options, go to "My Computer". Right click on the virtual drive, and then mount the drive.

Hope this helps!

It’s actually not a virtual CD but a virtual drive. It doesn’t create a CD literally but a virtual drive where you can mount ISO images and other formats. A virtual drive is not the normal hardware that you manually and physically install on your computer. It is the drive created by a program to allow you to add additional drives on to your machine. There are virtual drive software that allows creating of virtual hard drive and virtual optical drive but there are also ones that are limited to creating only the CD/DVD drive or basically the optical drive.

If you want to have this on your computer, you can install various virtual drive applications. One example is Alcohol 120%. The version I have, a very old one, allows you to create 31 virtual CDs and DVD-ROMs. It also allows burning of CD and DVD images to CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-RAM, and DVD+RW. To download the latest version of Alcohol 120%, visit Alcohol Soft | CD and DVD Burning Software. You may also want to try Virtual Drive Creator 3.0.1 from Softpedia® - Updated one minute ago | Windows | Programming | Other Programming Files | Virtual Drive Creator 3.0.1. Another one is the Phantom CD from Phantombility.com.
