Hello there. Here are ways to install a video driver in your ubuntu. The first thing you need to do is to go to ubuntu menu. Click on system then administration then choose hardware drivers.  A hardware scan will be running and will take a few minutes depending on your computer`s speed. Select the button “recommended”  on the video card driver, then click activate.

Your password will be needed for the authenticate button. Click that. Then a driver will be installed and download for your video card from ubuntu. Try restarting your computer, a few trials are needed. Hope it will work for you as it works for me.

You don’t need to install a new video driver because your computer already has it. Your current video card is using it. If you want to know why it is that slow when you are playing any game or even when watching a movie, check the amount of video RAM your video card has.

If it only has around 64 MB, then you may really need to upgrade your video card with a new one that has more video RAM in it. The more RAM a video card has, the smoother the playback on the screen. You can also check the amount of RAM installed on your CPU. This is also another factor why the system tends to become slow.

And sometimes the playback in movies depends on the media player you are using. There are videos that play badly on 1 media player but when played on another video player the playback is smooth than the previous one. This is also due to the installed plug-ins and codec of these media player.
