Hello,

For installing 7 Zip extension on Ubuntu press CTRL+ALT+T to open the terminal . When the terminal is open, type this command:

S sudo apt-get install p7zip-full

You may install 7 Zip for Ark for extracting the files to .rar extension. For that type this command:

S sudo apt-get install p7zip-rar

Hello Julianne,

All major Linux distributions have 7zip in Software Manager. You can download it and get in installed from there with a few clicks. If you download it from the Internet and want to install it separately the installation process differs from distribution to distribution. There should be a readme file in your download that says how to install it. The easiest method thought is through Software Manager.

Once installed, you can use it by going to the zipped file and right clicking. The menu that pops up will have an option to unzip it. For zipping it is the same way around. Right clicking in nautilus does the job.
