How to Include Page Numbers in Ebook

It has been said that it is better not to include page numbers in an eBook. This is because, there are different platforms, for reading the book, and the page will respond in different ways to the different platforms rendering the page number out-of-order. So my question is how do you include page numbers and at the same time ensure that regardless of the platform being used, it will be perfect to read the book, by having everything in order as a normal book?

I read somewhere that Kindle has decided to update their software to automatically add page numbers. However, I will tell you how to add page numbers using Microsoft Word, since I have seen multiple posts talking about using that to type out their eBooks. I hope this will help you. Please note that I have the 2007 version.

To add page numbers, go to the Insert tab at the top. In the Header & Footer box, click on the down arrow for "Page Number". There, you have a number of options for where to have the page number. For example, you can put it on the bottom middle, or the top right. Keep in mind that the pages might show differently on the reader, though. You might want to look up what the general format is for page size. I've also read that there are ways to force page breaks rather than let Word use their default page breaks.
