Hi everyone,

I would like to know how I could hook up my HP laptop to an HP desktop. I want to use only the screen of the desktop. If it is possible then what can I use to complete the bond and what software do I require? Both machines use Windows 2000.

Thank you.

Hello,

If you want to know how to connect your “Desktop’s Screen” to your “Laptop” then the answer is your external display has to be with “VGA Input”. Connect your “Male VGA Cable” to your laptop’s “Female slot”. These are the essential cables that you might be needed.

Hi Jana,

What you want to do is extend your window screen to your desktop monitor. You can use different cables for this to connect your desktop monitor to your laptop via VGA cable since your OS may not support the Digital connection. Check the controller for your Video card found in Device Manager.

If you have an Intel graphics controller then press CTRL+ALT+F12 on your Laptop then this will open a window that will extend your desktop once you have the right positioning just Click OK or Apply.

You can also toggle view by pressing the Windows key on your laptop then look for the function key with a monitor icon, in this way it will toggle on different view stop pressing once you achieved your desired screen view.
