How can I get my WiFi connection protected and the characters not shown when SHOW CHARACTERS in the laptops are checked??

I have a WiFi connection here, in our house and I don't want any other person to know my password. I once entered the key to my sister's notebook and a day later I was surprised when a bunch of her friends stayed in our house enjoying the FREE WiFi connection.  I checked on her notebook and found out that when you put check on SHOW CHARACTERS, it really shows the password for my wireless connection. I want to hide the characters.

Help anyone?

Yes, you can hide the characters of your password. You have an option in which it asks if you want the characters to be shown or not.  If you have checked that option, then what you have to  do is uncheck that and enter your password. it will be displayed on the screen in static.

It is recommend that you have to keep your password hidden not only on WiFi but every other password should also be hidden because most of your friends can see your password and try to access your account with your network id.  That is why Windows and other E-mail servers provide this facility by default to keep the password hidden.

Thanks

Hi,

Try these steps.

Log onto your router.  This is done by entering the local IP address of your router into your web browser.  Mostly this is 192.168.0.1 you'll be presented with a login page prompting you with username and password. Hopefully you will have customized this but if not, refer to your router's manual for the default information.

Once you're in, navigate to your router's wireless settings page.  Find the SSID broadcast option (usually a check box) and uncheck it. Then save your new settings.
