The .DAT file is an address book entry for the user in question.

Verify with the sender by sending an attachment.

Sometimes it may an artifact of using a Windows e-mail program that can be ignored.

It is an senders problem compresses an file automatically before sending compress to .zip file.

Hello,

This winmail.dat  file is originally from the sender. It is created upon making a mail by a specific application embedded on the other user’s software. This file can only be accessed by the one created it.

These files are usually meant for support and not for usage or cannot be opened manually.

This harmless and can be ignored upon receiving it.

If you really want to get rid of it, one solution is to delete your contact file in the other user’s account and reenter your information using “Create New Contact".

I haven’t tried this one yet but it’s worth the try if the .dat file is bothering you.

Regards,

Taylor
