Hello Marry,

If you need to install programs on windows then the process is not that different to how you were installing then in windows XP. All you have to do is get the right applications for the windows version that you are using, by right applications I mean getting a 32 bit application if you windows 7 version is 32 bit and so forth, and then run the set up to install the program.

You can install the programs from a CD or from a USB flash drive. You can download some of the applications from the internet, for those that are free but for the commercial ones you will need to buy a CD containing them and install the programs.

Hope this helps.

What programs are you trying to install or configure? Are these internal windows applications? If these are internal windows components, you can have these customized through the Control Panel. It's nearly the same as with Windows XP except that the graphic user interface is nicer and some applications are named different. For instance, in Windows XP we have Add or Remove Programs. In Windows 7 we now have Programs and Features. Both do the same basic function which is to manage your installation software.

If it's a third party application, it would actually depend if the application has a different interface for its Windows 7 version. Most applications though usually have the same interface regardless of Windows versions and usually the ones that work on Windows XP can also work on Windows 7 so configuring it would be just the same.
