I have a San Francisco android phone and quite interested in some Sony Ericsson funny apps though heard that Sony Ericsson has a branded app channel for their phones in the android market.
Does this mean that these apps can't work on other android handsets?

Android is an open source operating system for mobile phones which is currently used by a lot of companies like HTC, Samsung, Sony etc.
This thing that you've read about Sony Ericsson can be true, they probably have specific apps that would only work or made for Sony and will not work with a Samsung or vice versa.
But the good thing is you don't need that really there's always an alternate app available in Google play for you to download.Â
