I was trying to install the Office and the error problem caused by the Office installation being unable to open and save a certain registry key on my computer. An error appears:

Error  message:

Error 1402: Could not open key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareAutodesk\RegistryVersion 16.0. Verify that you have suffiecient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.

The error you are getting is usually related to problems with flash player issues on your computer, and therefore to resolve it you will need to use the following procedure:

  • First you will need to run the following utility
  • When you use only the windows installer you will leave behind some of the junk as well as the cr4p that the flash player you are using created.
  • After that you will need to download the latest version of the flash application and install it. You can get it here: https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
  • And then you can retry installing office and see if you will not get the problem this time round.
