I am using windows 2000 operating system. I am using broadband internet by LAN. But now my connection can not be established. An error message is showing on my screen. It tells "Link to connection failed. Reconnect pending. If you continue to receive error, you can enable logging for analysis". I want to know what is the exact cause of this problem. You are facing the problem which is related to the internet incoming & outgoing. In order to solve it you need to go to the startup menu here you’ll see the settings button & after that you have to click on the internet settings. Make a quick double click at your ISP’s icon. After that you have to alter the last dialed number to the a 1. I am sure it will fix your problem. But it’s major disadvantage is that it will provide a slow internet speed due to massive loads of internet traffic, if it doesn’t work than reverse the process & give the default number of your ISP.

Most broadband Internet connection uses authentication when connecting to the Internet Server. Try to re-setup the connectoid, and type the log-in information such as username and password provided by your Internet Service Provider.

Reconnect your broadband dialer with the correct log-in username and password. The stats should say connected if it's successful. The usual error is what you have posted above but most of the time is error 691 or 718.

Check the Local Area Network and this must be in enabled mode. If not, right click and enabled the icon to active the status.
