This has been really tough for me to wrap my head around. How is Azure having an active directory helping it integrate with Cloud computing.

How does Azure active directory work with cloud computing

Hello Johnnie,

The Windows Azure Active Directory is hosted by Microsoft in its data centers and it is as well used on a wide scale by Office 365, which is the cloud Office suite for vendors. The information concerning the users, groups as well as the services that are connected with Office 365 offering are kept in an AD instance that is cloud based and  lives as a tenant on Microsoft's services.

The WAAD does not currently have a front end that will enable the generation just at a directory instance. If you check the Microsoft documentation you will find the procedure to sign up for a trial of Office 365 to get started with this process. In future, you will be able to come up with an instance of the WAAD when doing the Azure subscription, but for the time being Office 365 is the entry point.

Regards,

Carl
