How do you unlock BIOS password?

Good Morning,

Over the weekend, I went to turn my computer on and it would not boot. It would begin it's a POST, but then it would stop saying that the BIOS password was incorrect. I honestly do not think I had changed anything. But regardless, how do I either bypass the password, or change it so that the computer will continue to boot?

I have a Dell Dimension 4300, with Windows XP. I am unsure of any other specs on it since I am unable to get anywhere with the boot up.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi there,

If you know what is the BIOS password is then just log in to BIOS with that password and then go to remove the password option. Then give old password and press F10 to save. Then restart your computer.

You can also use optimize default options from here. For this, just log in BIOS with its password and then go to optimize default option. Then select it and press enter. In this way you can reset the BIOS.

Another option is to put out CMOS for a while. CMOS is a battery on Motherboard. You just need to open it and separate it for a few times.

Then attach it again in its place. It will remove all BIOS passwords. If you don’t know or forget bios password then use this option.

Good Morning,

The solution is that just removed the battery for a short while from the Motherboard. Then fix it like before.

The easiest way to remove a BIOS password is to remove the CMOS battery. Unplug your CPU and then open the CPU case wIth a screw driver. Search for the round circular metal and then remove it. Wait for 10-25 minutes before you put the battery back. Be careful on taking the battery out and check on the latches before you get the battery. Just let the battery discharge for a while and then put everything back again, Plug all the cables and cords and then power up your computer and go to BIOS settings. There should be no more password. If anything goes wrong, just load the BIOS to its default settings.
