How do I manually unblock com ports in Internet Connection Firewalls?

I have recently upgraded to Windows 7.

Is it the same as that of Windows XP?

Wassup Isaac, it is good you have asked that question and I will be happy to help you with it.

The blocked com ports in firewalls can indeed be unblocked and is not really as different from that of Win xp since Win 7 is just a recent evolvement from Win XP.

You can be able to unblock using the following options;

  • Go to Start > Control Panel
  • In Control Panel, go to Network and connections > Windows Firewall and select it.
  • Once you open the Windows Firewall, select Advanced settings in the left column of the window.
  • Select new rule in the tab then select port in the inbound rule wizard.
  • Select which protocol the rule will apply.(TCP or UDP) Select Specific local ports.
  • Type a port number (eg 80) port numbers (eg 80,82) in a range of port numbers (5000-5020) and click next
  • Select Allow connection and click Next
  • Select for when the rule applies. You need to check all the boxes.
  • Give the rule a name and click Finish to add the new rule.

I hope this works, thanks
