it depends on the your motherboard specification and the technology. for an example most of motherboards come with built in Graphic cards. for the on board Graphic Cards , in your BIOS settings, you may have the option for  increase and decrease the size of your VGA memory. note – this option will share your Computer RAM most of the times. for these kind of Graphic Cards : the Graphic Card Memory comes as separately ( such as 266mb, 512mb) when you increasing the size it will take extra memory from your RAM. then the amount of memory will permanently allocate to the Graphic Card.

if you are using Separate VGA Card such as AGP, PCI Express you better go for a new card. when you go for a new card please check whether it  will supported by your motherboard first. those are the ways that you can increase your Graphic Card Memory.

if  you can tell me about your system hardware configuration including motherboard details i will provide more specific answer for your question

happy day

To increase the capacity of your GPU or the Graphics Processing Unit or we commonly call it the “Video Card”, better take a look at your Main Board as to how much can your Main board supports. Say for instance, previous generation of Main Boards has AGP slots or the Accelerated Graphics Peripheral slots. The current Main Boards are having the PCI-E or the PCI Express Slots. From there we can isolate the extent of the upgrade but previous generations of Main Boards are now phased out. So hopefully you have PCI-E slot, then you can choose from 210 as low end to 550 as high end series of Video cards of Invidia or the series of the Power Color as the counterpart brand. After choosing for your Video Card just plug it in your motherboard, during the first start, install the drivers and your done upgrading your Graphics.

First, perhaps, is to ensure that all unnecessary programs off while you play. Disconnect from the Internet, remove the firewall and antivirus. Notes on other programs you have loaded into memory and runs in the background. All this is to create a system that reduces the performance of 3D.

You should also make sure that the normal software maintenance is regularly performed in the system. Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter is a positive impact, no matter how small that may be.

Use in-game settings for your PC games. Reduce the screen resolution and level of detail can make them seem less "beautiful", but it will also improve performance. Make you sure that you have no anti-aliasing and / or anisotropic filtering enabled video card, as these parameters degrade performance significantly.

Finally, a format and a new installation, make sure that no excess or unnecessary software loading, may be the best way to maximize game performance on your system. Things work more efficiently on a freshly installed system!
