I am skilled in programming using C++. I recently signed for oDesk. However, jobs that are relevant to my skill are very hard to come by. Can anyone advise me on how to get software development projects on oDesk?
Having a skill in c++ is great, but Java language is much preferred in oDesk, and to be honest having only c++ skills won't be enough. I encourage you to study Java, since it is a lot like c++ you'll be able to learn it quickly. Also try to study PHP, HTML 5, CSS 3 MySQL and SEO, because web development is more in demand on oDesk. If you have already mastered these skills, try to make your own website, as this will be your proof of your mastery of these skills, and try to apply to as many jobs as possible with a reasonable rate.
You can change your rate on your profile. You can also use the help center, it can be found on the upper-right corner of your screen with a "?" mark sign for your guide in oDesk. I hope I helped you out.

As you are new in odesk and you have knowledge about C++ you can develop software. So,at first you can go website of odesk and sign in. After sign in you click find work. Then you click “Browse all job categories” and show software development sector.

There are a lot of opportunity to work for software development projects on ODesk , but my advice to you to not apply for jobs that you’re not able to do. There are a lot of work fields you can apply to on oDesk, until you get the enough skills for the job you want it .
