How do I fix IDM register error?

You will encounter this message if you installed it with fake serial number. Some user uninstalled their IDM to solve the problem and sometimes end up with pc format. But if you want solution for this problem without uninstalling it please follow the instruction.

1. Exit IDM.

2. Disconnect your internet connection.

3. Go to  “C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc”  then locate the file “hosts”

4. Then open it with notepad

5. Enter this on the last line “127.0.0.1 www.internetdownloadmanager.com”

6. Close the file, open IDM and enable your internet connection, then enter again the fake serial.

7. You IDM registered again.

8. If this problem again use again the fake key without doing again step 3 to 5.

Use the following steps to resolve the issue that you are getting:

• First you will need to exit IDM from the taskbar before entering the serial.
• And then you will disconnect active connections to the internet.
• After that you will need to go to the directory C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc and locate the file 'hosts'
• And then open the "hosts" file with "notepad".
• Navigate to the last line and then enter the following address as shown and save:
  127.0.0.1 www.internetdownloadmanager.com
• After that you will need toenter the "fake serial" and then wait for few seconds.
• Your IDM will be registered again.
