Can anyone tell me about these errors that appear in the router logs? I hope you could also provide any troubleshooting tips.

“%FIB-3-FIBDISABLE : Fatal error, slot [#]: no memory and %FIB-3-NOMEM: Malloc Failure, disabling dCEF on line card”

Thanks for your time.

Hi there,

You are asking about error on your router logs. Ok here one way how to check and fix it first disconnect your router from the Computer, and then re connect it again, make sure the plug was in good condition sometimes loose cable was the cause of a lost connection to its PIM (multicast) neighbor.  Then restart your computer see if the error was gone. If not disable your router go to start menu click control panel click phone and modem right click router then disable restart you computer and enable it again.

Hope this will help you

After you have get any error in your router devices then you can simply reset your router device to make sure that it work fine. You need to then put all of the values and settings again to your router devices and you will be able to solve your problem. Malloc is a programming issue that comes if you have some settings error in your computer. You can set this error by simply applying the settings again to your computer. Fatal error is also this kind of error and the same is the thing with other errors. These errors show that you have some settings error in your computer memory and if you need to solve your problem then you can configure it by applying the new settings after resetting your device.

There are a number of reasons regarding this error message.

‘ERROR MESSAGE’
‘%FIB-3-FIBDISABLE (x1): Fatal error, slot [dec]: [chars]
An internal software error has occurred because of an IPC problem between the LC and the RP. CEF switcher has been disabled on the specified slot.’

Follow these steps.
1. Run slot command of ‘clear cef linecard’.
2. Examine the status of LC and run the command of ‘show cef linecard’.
3. If the status of LC is disabled, then enable distributed CEF (dCEF).
4. Examine LC status again.
