Hi guys.  I just installed Mozilla Firefox 21.0 on my iMac.  Why is it that when I open Firefox, I have the private flag icon?  To my understanding, I am on a private browsing mode.  How do I disable Firefox private viewer Mac?  I'm on OSx Mountain Lion.  Thanks.

Hi Dorothy,

There's an add-on that will help you stop Firefox private browsing by downloading this upgraded extension.  The only downside of this option is that you need to run the Firefox in safe mode or else you can't proceed with this action.

Therefore I suggest that you should start upgrading your Firefox add-on now.

Hope this helps you with your issue.

In any web browser, private browsing is not started automatically when you open the browser. Private browsing is launched manually. In Opera browser, private browsing is opened by pressing CTRL + SHIFT + N. In Google Chrome, private browsing is called “Incognito” mode which is also started by pressing CTRL + SHIFT + N. In Mozilla Firefox, private browsing is started by pressing CTRL + SHIFT + P.

In SeaMonkey, private browsing is started by pressing CTRL + SHIFT + B. In Microsoft Internet Explorer, private browsing is called “InPrivate Browsing” which you can start by pressing CTRL + SHIFT + P, similar to Mozilla Firefox. If your Firefox starts in private browsing mode automatically, try to uninstall and reinstall it. Download the free version of Revo Uninstaller and install it.

Once installed, start Revo Uninstaller then select your Mozilla Firefox among the applications and click “Uninstall”. Follow the normal uninstall process. When uninstall is complete, click “Scan” to scan your computer for any leftover files and delete everything it finds. This removes everything the program created on your computer. When it is finished, close Revo Uninstaller then install Mozilla Firefox back.

This should fix the problem. If you no longer have the installer, download the latest Mozilla Firefox instead.
