Hi,

Here are a few ways to delete/remove dock icons from Mountain Lion:

1. Click on the icon that you want to remove and drag it away from the dock by holding your mouse button down until a little “poof” cloud will appear on the lower right. When that cloud icon appears, release the mouse button and this will remove the icon from your dock. Or,

2. Drag the icon to the trash. Or,

3. Right click on the icon, hover on  Options and then click “Remove from dock. ”

Hope this helps.

Hello Ruth,

To get rid of an item from the Mac OS X Mountain Lion you just need to do the following two things:

  • First you will drag its icon out of the Dock.
  • And then you will choose Remove from Dock from the zDock menu of the item.

The following images illustrates how to go about that procedure:

  • Note that you will not be able to remove the icon of a program that is currently being executed from the Dock. You will first of all have to quit it. Also moving an icon from the Dock is not moving, deleting or making a copy of the item itself, it is simply moving the icon from the Dock.

Regards,

Carl
