To those who have experience in Photoshop CS5, I would like to create my own Photoshop backgrounds with swerls like the downloadable brushes. I know that I can easily download some of these backgrounds but I believe that someone actually made them and therefore I would like to learn as well. Any short procedure on how to go about it? Sorry, I also don't like the big books or long PDF tutorials. Thanks.

Hi Jaylonomarion,

Good day!! Thanks for question posting on techyv.com!

1. Create a New Layer

2. Draw a Rectangle

3. Open Your Blending Options

4. Selecting a Pattern to Create the Background in Photoshop

Now you can select a pattern. Click the Pattern box to open it and view the patterns. Click a pattern and click the OK button on the right of the box. The pattern will now be applied to the rectangle you created. There's your new background. You can save it for the web, or whatever you want to do with it.

Sincerely,

Lorraine P Goodman

Greetings! Creating your own backgrounds in Photoshop is very simple. First Create a New Layer in your Layers Window. Then using the Rectangle Shape, draw a white box that is equivalent to the size of your canvas. Design the rectangle box to whatever you like; you may also place pictures on it. That will be your background. Then after your done with your background, select that layer in the Layers Window and drag it down over the other layers so that it will appear as the last layer. Turn off any layer that can completely cover your background. That's it!
