How are you doing? Hope everything is well. Its funny how apple, a leading company in the Information Communication Technology field, have such a simple slideshow feature on such a complicated machine.
The answer to your question is no. You will have to download another presentation application. There are numerous softwares that serve this purpose but the best and the one I would recommend you to have is iPhoto.
With this application, you can specify settings that will affect an entire slideshow like:
How long each slide will appear
Which transition effect will appear between the slides,
Whether or not to display captions.
Also, you can specify different and unique durations and transition effects for specified slides. You may also add motion to a photo in your slideshow.

To change the playback speed for a slideshow, in Mac, play the slideshow you want to modify. Then while it is playing, move the mouse pointer to bring up the controls then click “Settings.”
If you want to play the slideshow for the entire length of the music, select “Fit slideshow to music.” If you want to change the duration of every slide, select “Play each slide for a minimum of __ seconds.” Save the changes you made then try playing the slideshow again to test the change you made. With iPhoto 11, you can adjust the settings of your slideshow.
