I have an iMac that has the 2.9 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD, Nvidia GeForce GT 650M Graphics processor and OSx Mountain Lion.

How do I change IP without restart Mac?

Can I do that without logging into the router?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Dorethadhoward, I believe I can help you in solving this query.

In order to change your IP in the mac computer without restarting it, you need to do the following;

Go to your computer and click on System Preferences > Network

Go to Network > Select Ethernet from sidebar> select 'using DHCP' and ensure the IP address or Subnet mask is listed.

Click on Advanced and press renew DHCP lease.

It is however not easy to change the I.P without accessing the router.

 You can also login to router's admin console and release the I.P address.

When you restart the router, it should work well/ normally

I hope this helps

Thanks and regards
