Hi! I am working on a network where I have several privileges. However, I am having a problem with my connection speed due to a firewall. How do I bypass firewall limitations for speed so that I can experience a better connection speed for my work? Is this done through some kind of a software or could it be an in-build feature in Windows platform?

Hello Edwaard,

This is how you disable internet firewall for Windows XP, it is pretty much the same for the latter versions of Windows. Regarding your concern, let me just inform you that some router's have a functionality feature that limits bandwidth to other devices connected to it, the default of which is that it prioritizes wired connections to it rather than wireless. Please check your router settings and adjust it to your preference if this is the case, or I you can give you instructions for doing this, please give me your router's name and I can give you directions.

Disabling System firewall:

  1. Click Windows Key
  2. Go to control panel
  3. System and Security
  4. Click Windows Firewall
  5. Turn Windows Firewall On or Off
  6. Tick the circle that says Turn Off Windows Firewall (Not Recommended)

Note: By turning your firewall off you leave your computer susceptible to infiltration.

Sincerely,

Luz M Terry
