I encountered this problem today, when I tried to launch PowerDVD 12 on my PC.
It just crashes when I open it saying that PowerDVD has encountered a problem and needs to close.
It was working fine, and now this error shows up.
Tried to find a solution online but none was found.

For solving your problem, I suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the program, since it may reset the causes that provoke this error whenever you try to open it.
Also, remember to clean the cache and also to delete every trace the program left in the registries. To do this, I recommend using a specialized software.
The problem may also come from the drivers. Try updating your video drivers and install the program again to check if it works. Old drivers may not be compatible with some versions of programs.
Also, try and update the drivers for your hardware, maybe one of them is not working properly.
