You can change the first boot device by configuring your bios setting. You must have CD/DVD at first priority for window installation from optical devices. It is very easy to do, press the delete key on the keyboard when you start the system.

It will display the BIOS main menu page. Then select the Advanced BIOS Features and press Enter to display the Advanced BIOS Features page. Go to the menu of fist Boot Device and follow the below instructions.

1. Select CD/DVDROM by pressing up button.
2. Press Esc to return to the main menu page.
3. To save the changes and exit Press F10.
4. Type Y and press Enter to save the changes.

Now close your Bios and restart the computer it will be boot from CD/DVD.

You need to modify the BIOS settings of your computer to boot first into the DVD-ROM. Now, depending on your chipset and/or motherboard manufacturer, the difficulty can range from extremely to moderately easy.

The firmware is different for varying models. Normally, the instructions are provided in the documentation that comes with your computer. The simplest BIOS firmware would feature a menu selection indicating "BOOT SETTINGS" or something similar.

Simply go through there and make the necessary changes. Save, restart, and you're good to go. Of course, It won't always be like that. If you don't see that you'll have to go through the menus and find something about "BOOT SETTINGS" and do the same. If you need a more specific answer, please do post your PC Model name.

Hello Mrmx,

To set you’re DVD-ROM as first boot device priority I will mention here the steps to follow:

Step1: Press Bios Entry Key immediately when you power on the system, different computer system has different Bios entry key mostly f1, f2, f10 or Delete keys are used.

You will get message like this:  Press f1 to go to Boot options.

Step2: When Bios setup screen appears you can see different tabs like Main, Advanced, Security, Boot, and Exit.

Step3:  Go to Boot tab by moving left and Right arrow buttons.

Step4: Use +/- key to change the order of Boot devices. Select the DVD-ROM .

Step5: press F10 to save the setting and Exit. You will get help in the right side column.

 Thank you.
