Hi it is necessary to take a backup of your data because it is saved on your computer not on the email server. So if anytime your computer or hard drive got corrupted then it may be lost. So to save your data, take a backup. All the data is stored in Personal Folder File (.pst) form, you can retrieve your data by just import this file in your outlook account.
