Facebook says its tweaks to the settings for the display of people's e-mail addresses was not a "privacy" change but rather a "visibility setting" change.

Hello,
The visibility of email address of a user can be controlled by setting the option who can see it in profile. Go to Profile and click on Edit Profile on the right top corner. Click on Contact information link in the left panel as shown below.
Beside Emails there will be two options on the right hand side of email. One is to whom the email can be visible. The other is whether the email should be displayed on profile or not.
So, once can control the visibility of their email address by selecting the relevant options among them.

In Facebook, you can hide or unhide your email address from getting viewed by users either by your friends or not your friends. But even if this is possible, there are still other means of finding your email address like in search and other places on Facebook.
I tested my self if I can see my Facebook account by searching my email address, the one I’m using on Facebook, on Google but the results didn’t show up my Facebook account. That’s a good sign. This means Facebook protects the email address every user is using.
But on the contrary, searching the name you are using on Facebook on Google will show your Facebook account on the results. Now, let’s start hiding your email address on Facebook. First, open Facebook on your web browser or simply click Facebook Social Media to direct you to Facebook. Sign in to your account if you are not signed in yet.
Once you are logged in, click your name on the upper right of the screen beside Home to go to your Profile page.
Once you are on your Profile page, click About.
In About section, go to or click “Contact and Basic Info” then click on your email address.
There will be two columns of audience selectors to the right of your email address. The first column is for the user visibility of your email address and the second column is for the Timeline visibility. On the first column, you can set the visibility of your email address to the Facebook users whether friends or not.
The second column allows you to hide or show your email address on your Timeline. Once you are finished customizing the visibility of your email address, click Save Changes and that’s it.
