You can scan your computer offline. Just start the anti-virus program and scan your whole computer or a particular location of hard disk. It is true that you should update your anti-virus regularly. Your anti-virus automatically gets updated whenever you connect your laptop to internet. If you scan your computer offline then your anti-virus will check for the virus definition which is present in the anti-virus database.

If you have antivirus software in your laptop then all you have to do is open the antivirus program and scan it manually. If you don’t have one you should download and install it to your laptop.
