How can I reformat Sony Vaio without having a CD-ROM?

Last week, when I was using my Sony Vaio, the hard disk just suddenly broke down.

When I went to the customer service center, they told me that the only way to fix it was to reformat it.

Problem is there is no available CD-ROM on my Sony Vaio. Is there a way possibly reformat my laptop?

Can you please give me suggestions that are working?

Thanks!

Yes! It's possible. You can reformat your Sony Vaio laptop without using the Recovery Disc. You can do this by using the VAio Recovery Center that comes pre-installed with your laptop. This will let the users to recover or restore their hard drive when there is a failure on your system. Vaio laptops also comes with a recovery partition located on your hard drive that contains the Windows Setup File. Also included are the software and drivers for the default programs. When you use the Vaio Recovery Center utility, you can reformat your drive C: and go back to the default configuration even if you are not using the Recovery Disc.

To do this:

1. Click Start> All Programs> Vaio Recovery Center.

2. Click Restore C: Drive on the Vaio Recovery Center interface. Remember that you will lose all the data installed on your hard drive.

3. Click Next and then follow the onscreen instructions.
