Hi,

I have a question in restoring my Toshiba Satellite A15 to its factory default setting. How can I do that? I used the recovery disk then continuously tap C key according to the instructions, but it does not work. My computer continues to boot normally to Windows XP. What do I have to do?

Please help.

Recovering files is not perfect. Different contents of your hard disk will not necessarily can still be recovered. It is by chance or percentage and you can either hope that it will be fixed or recovered somehow. In your case, you might not have the right software or the instruction might not be followed well enough. I suggest that you do a research in the internet and also try different file recovery tools. Search the Microsoft home page as well they will provide you with online support. Here is the link for the file recovery on Microsoft: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/835840/data-recovery

Hi,

Try changing the boot menu in your BIOS so that it will have the optical drive as the primary boot option then have the hard drive as the second and so on. You should be able to access the BIOS by hitting F12 right after your turn the computer on. If your recovery media is not broken, the computer should be able to recognize it and boot from it automatically after your computer is done POSTing. If it doesn't work, try requesting Toshiba if they can send you another recovery media as the one that you have is possibly defective.

Thank you. Hope it helps.
