If you think your Microsoft Outlook has really a big problem and you need to reinstall it, try following these steps.

But be sure to have the installer of Microsoft Outlook or else you won’t be able to install it back after it has been removed.

You need first to uninstall Microsoft Outlook.

Click Start then Control Panel.
Click Add or Remove Programs.
Look for Microsoft Outlook on the list of installed programs, click it to select then click the Change/Remove button.
Follow the on-screen instructions.

After it has been removed, you can now install it back to fix any corrupted file and restore its settings back to default including some of the settings that you might have customized.

If you have the installer disc for Microsoft Outlook, load it in the optical drive or DVD drive then wait for it to load.

But if it doesn’t load, open Windows Explorer then browse the content of the disc.

Double-click setup.exe to launch the installer of Microsoft Outlook then just follow the on-screen instructions.

Hello A-Akbar,

There are seven portions on how to successfully reinstall the program.

If you still have the program on your disk, you can manually uninstall it and then reinstall.

These are the 7 portions:

Make all system files and file extensions visible

  • Back up data
  • Uninstall
  • Rename folders
  • Delete registry keys
  • Rename files
  • Reinstall

I: Make All System Files and File Extensions Visible

  1. Open My Computer
  2. Select Tools menu, click Folder Options, then click the View.
  3.  Under Hidden Files and Folders, clicks Show hidden files and folders bullet, then click the Hide fileextensions for known file types check box.
  4. Click to clear the Hide Protected Operating System Files (Recommended) check box, then click Yes.
  5. Click OK to close dialog box.

II: Back Up Data

Before you uninstall Outlook Express, it is important to familiarize yourself with the backup and restore procedures for Outlook data. Microsoft recommends that you back up your mail, address book, and other data.

III: Uninstall

  1. Click Start, go to Settings, then select Control Panel.
  2. Open Programs and Features, and then scroll down until you see Outlook Express, select and then click Add/Remove.
  3. Click Apply, and then click OK.

IV: Rename Folders

  1. Click Start, go to Programs, Accessories, then select Windows Explorer.
  2.  Locate Stationery folder on the drive (C:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedStationary) and rename it old_stationery.
  3. Locate the Identities folder on the drive (C:WindowsApplication DataIdentities) and rename it old_identities.
  4. Delete the files that are located in the C:Program FilesOutlook Express folder. But do not delete the main Outlook Express folder. Doing so may cause Outlook Express inaccessible.
