OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturers. It can be activated only one time and it helps to associate BIOS of PC with Windows OS. Activation of OEM happens before the PC arrives to the client, this is why there is no need for the end user to do anything related to the OEM. The Windows OS copy that is installed by the OEM is unique, meaning that it is only for that computer specifically.

For activating the OEM by yourself, you have to follow below steps as per your Windows OS version:
Be careful to install the right ".iso" image referring to your Windows Operating System and processor.

A) XP
For XP Home services:
GRTMHOEM_EN.iso / en_windows_xp_home_with_service_pack_3_x86_cd_x14-92413.iso
For XP Professional services:
GRTMPOEM_EN.iso / en_windows_xp_professional_with_service_pack_3_x86_cd_x14-80428.iso

1. Create a backup of the existing OEM. You may find the needed files to back-up under system32.
Backup these files: OEMBIOS.BIN – OEMBIOS.DAT – OEMBIOS.SIG – Catroot{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}OEMBIOS.CAT
2. After backup finished, start with the creation of .cab
3. New .cab created files should replace the existing OEM files (/i386)
4. Save the activation files under system32 (.dbl and .bak file)
5. Install the COA/Authentication key

B) Vista
For vista sp2 64bit use "en_windows_vista_sp2_x64_dvd_342267.iso"
For vista sp2 32bit use "en_windows_vista_with_sp2_x86_dvd_342266.iso"
For Win-7 Ultimate 64bit use "en_windows_7_ultimate_with_sp1_x64_dvd_u_677332.iso"
For Win-7 Ultimate 32bit use "en_windows_7_ultimate_with_sp1_x86_dvd_u_677460.iso"

1. Perform backup via ABR
2. Install the COA/Authentication from the beginning
3. The key should not be inserted if required during the installation process
4. After installation finishes, use ABR to restore the files you saved to step 1
