How can I initiate Windows 7 Wifi launch on a laptop?

Hallo!

I got this invitation from a friend for a Windows 7 Wifi lunch session where they were demonstrating some of the advantages of using Windows 7 and its Wifi launch capabilities. Everything worked well until I went home to try my neighbor's Wifi. I realized that following then same procedure, I could not connect since I was not being prompted to input a password. Earlier, if I pressed the connect button on the notification area, I would be prompted to input a password. What can I do to connect without this prompt?

There are two types of wireless network, the secured network and the unsecured network. When you try to connect to unsecured network it will never ask you for a password. You must know the password for that wireless network first so when that network is detected it will no longer ask for a password.

It is simply because your neighbors Wifi network issecure and well protected. While your friends WIFI that they have shown you is not set with a security. Wireless security has grown over the years. Here are the wireless security and the reason why your neighbors WIFI network prompt you a password or what they call authentication. WEP – Wired Equivalent Privacy is a little less secured standard which is being used by the early years of WIFI. WPA – WIFI Protected Access is more secure and not easily cracked by hackers and there is this WPA2 which is an upgrade of the first WPA.
