Hello,

I recently purchased McAfee Total Protection 2012 and I removed older version of McAfee from my system.

I am getting the error mentioned below as I try to install McAfee Total Protection 2012.

We're having trouble installing your McAfee software.  Please make sure you have JavaScript installed on your PC, and that it's working properly before continuing

I tried McAfee removal tool (MCPR) and Mcpreinstall tool and tried by creating a new Administrator account as suggested but I was unable to recover from this and getting visual c++ error sometimes. Windows Updates are up to date.

I have given a screenshot too.

I am thankful for your help.

Thank you.

First of all, you must uninstall the McAfee Antivirus from the computer using Control Panel, Add Remove Programs and uninstall the McAfee, Java Versions that are installed on your computer located in C:Program filesJava.

After uninstalling, you must restart the computer. After that, download the latest version of Java including C++ from the internet.

Open Command Prompt, Type regsvr32 jscript.dll. Press Enter.

Try to run the McAfee Pre-install tool. Run exe file to install the antivirus.

It will install McAfee to your computer.

If the problem remains unsolved then do the followings;

If you have Internet Explorer 9 installed on your computer, uninstall it from computer. Control Panel > Add remove programs > Uninstall IE9.

Restart the computer and then install McAfee. I hope it will solve your problem definitely.
