If you want your folder to prompt you with a password every time you open it, the easiest way is to encrypt the folder. If you are using Windows XP Professional, here’s how to do it. Open Windows Explorer then navigate to the folder you want to encrypt. Next, right-click that folder and select “Properties”. In “General” tab in the Properties window, click “Advanced”.
In the “Advanced Attributes” dialog, under “Compress or Encrypt attributes” section, select or check “Encrypt contents to secure data” then click “OK” all throughout. And that’s it. The folder is now encrypted. Note: you will not be prompted for a password when you access the folder but other users will not have access to that encrypted folder.
