Hello E.Robe.

I just read your question about inserting $ symbol into excel cell. Robe, it’s very simple to insert symbol into spreadsheets, please follow these steps to insert your desired symbol into any cell in excel spreadsheet.

First of all, select your desired cell, where you want to insert symbol.

Now, click on insert tab in Excel.

You will see symbol button in this tab, click there.

Upon clicking on symbol button, symbol directory will be opened, now find your desired symbol and finally click on insert. Your desired symbol will be inserted into cell.

I hope with this your issue is resolved.

Hi Robe,

I went through your query and come up with this solution as shown below. Please have a look into it

1. Maybe the cell's formatting is off, have you tried resetting the cell formats and make sure there are no custom formats in the way.

2.Right click on the cell(if want to have a change on compelte column, Select complete column) and select the format cells… option as shown below.

3.Select the tab "Number" and category as "currency":

3.1 Choose the '$'sign on right hand side Symbol.

3.2 Also make sure that you select tne Negative numbers: as ($1,234.10) and check with sample how it shows the number with  '$'sign or not.

Hope this might have resolve your query.

Hi E. Rode,

I have read your posting about your question regarding on how to put a dollar sign ($) to excel cell. I'll be more than glad to help you work this out. What I can do for you right now is to forward to you a couple of instructions and it will also serves your guideline. Here I attached a coherent sample on how to put a dollar sign on excel cell.

  1. Select  the Insert  tab at the menu bar then look for Symbol. The Symbol  tab is right next to Object tab . You’ll see a pop-up message once you point your mouse pointer to the Symbol tab and the tab will automatically highlighted in yellow. When you see it, click Symbol.

2. After clicking the Symbol tab, the second screenshoot above will be the output.  The dollar sign appears at the fifth column of the first row. Then click Insert button below then click the Close button.

3. This will be the result.

I hope this guide will help you thoroughly.

Have a great day!

You can put whole functions into the DOLLAR function, like this:

=DOLLAR(SUM(A1:A4), 2)

You can also use cell formatting on the cell in question (Format – Cells, the Number tab, choose Currency).
