Hi there!

I used to have office 365 notification in tray so it would be easy for me to manage my works. I had a problem with my VGA drivers and so I had to carry out an update. After the update I realized that my notification was no longer working. Can someone tell me how I can change the setting? The application is just working fine. Thanks.

Hi Leland, there are few easy steps to follow in restoring the Envelope icon in your notification area.  Try the following:

  1. Start Outlook
  2. Hit the Tools menu then click Options
  3. Click the E-mail Options on  the Preferences Tab
  4. Click Advanced E-mail Options
  5. Select “Show an envelope icon in the notification area” or “Show an envelope icon in the system tray”

When you are using a Outlook 2010:

  1. Click Options on the File Tab
  2. In the left navigation pane, select Mail
  3. Click the “Show an envelope icon in the taskbar” in the Message arrival section

While using Outlook, the alerts are turned on by default and can  be turned on  and off at any time. Most probably during the issue with your VGA drivers there was a disconnect between the ports in  use by Outlook.Just follow the below steps to restore the notifications. From Tools drop down menu, click on  the Options. And select the preferences tab check box under "and click on “email options: tab and select advanced email options tab. Under the option  for “when  new mail/items arrive in  my inbox” check the small box ion  the check the check box for “display a new mail desktop alert (default box only). Please note that the alerts will work only with POP3 mail server since for IMAP you will need to set rules.
